W.O.W. - Midweek
|
Food, fellowship, service and learning happen at WOW! |
What is WOW? WOW stands for Word On Wednesdays. WOW is Faith's mid week ministry for children, youth and adults. This year, WOW has activities for preschoolers through 8th grade, plus classes for adults. Senior youth can participate as helpers.
Today's Culture...Today's Church: The culture in which we live continues to pose significant challenges for youth and families. The fast-paced world, at risk behaviors, and the complexities of managing relationships gives the church a tremendous opportunity to minister to homes of all shapes and sizes. What are young people seeking? Purpose, direction and guidance.
How do we reach young people who are being driven by the culture into at-risk behaviors? Through Christian relationships, in the WOW program, young people and adults discover they belong to God. As they live in Christian community and grow in their faith, they find direction and purpose to their lives as disciples of Jesus Christ.
WOW is the theology and practice of Christian relationships in a disciplined, mid-week, four-part context:
- Recreation and fellowship
- Family time and evening meal
- Bible Study
- Worship Skills (vocal, hand bells, puppetry, drama, etc)
Wednesdays from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. from Sept. 14, 2011 - April 26, 2012.
Cost for the year is $90 per child/youth or $45/semester. Guests and adults are $3/meal.
Guests: Please call the church office by Monday of the week you are attending for an accurate meal count.

Adult Class Options for Spring 2012 (Most classes run from 6:30-8:00 p.m. - you may come for the meal at 5:30)
- "Stepping Up: A Journey through the Psalms" by Beth Moore, led by Brenda Schwartz. This 7-session study (begins Jan. 4) provides a personal study experience five days a week plus viewer guides for the group video sessions of this in-depth women's Bible study of Psalms 120-134. Themes of unity, joy, gratitude, redemption, repentance, the power of blessings, facing ridicule, and more are explored in detail. Modern-day believers in Jesus Christ can learn much from these treasured Psalms in their journey toward greater intimacy with God.
- "Stuff They Didn't Teach Me in Sunday School" led by Eric Boling. 613 laws, a bowl of blood, a high priest with bells on, lame excuses, and goats on the run. And that's just the first three weeks! Join us as we learn
- "The Divine Drama" led by Pastor Norb Wodtke. Produced by Crossways International, this intermediate-level complete overview of the Bible provides a solid foundation for lifelong faith-formation. This is a year-long study which began in September 2011.
