Below, find some suggested ideas by other Faith members that have helped them to grow in their personal service life:
- Volunteer! (for anything--reading, teaching, hospital visits, nursery help, cleaning, etc.).
- Serve on a church board or committee; pick up the paper for an elderly neighbor.
- Help with "church work day."
- Working with our youth; helping our members with outside work.
- Help with the Kairos Torch program at the juvenile correctional facility or with the Kairos program in the adult prison.
- Donate food to Project Topeka.
- Donate time and food to the Ronald McDonald House.
- Visit or call upon those who are sick.
- Volunteer to help during church services--greet, usher, serve communion, sing in the choir, be on the worship team, be a reader, play an instrument.
- Help with Faith's team for Habitat for Humanity.
- Pick up people who can't drive themselves to church.
- Be a spiritual mentor.
- Buy new things and give them to organizations--not just at Christmas.
- Go to nursing homes to visit the residents.
- Visiting people in the hospital; visiting friends that are homebound; making calls to persons that have been ill or are having problems.
- Open the door for someone else; join the alter guild to assist with communion preparation; mow a neighbor's yard; take food to an ill neighbor and include Christian reading.
- Prayerfully consider serving a foster family.
