What is Fellowship?

More than coffee and rolls – although there is a lot to be said for celebrating Christian community in that way. Fellowship is a rich Biblical word that is used to express the intimate relationship we have with our Loving God. Because of the Fellowship our Lord has established with us, we have a unique relationship with one another as His Followers. That relationship is based on His having healed our broken relationships with one another. Forgiveness is the operative word here.

Fellowship at Faith is expressed when we gather to worship together and share the bread and wine of Holy Communion, the Christian family’s thanksgiving dinner. Fellowship is expressed when we pray for one another, when we care for one another at times of emotional and physical pain. Fellowship is expressed when we gather in small groups to share our joys and sorrows and provide a safe place to be open with another. Fellowship is shared when we eat together, play together, work together, pray together. Christian Fellowship provides something to counter the isolation we often experience in our busy lives striving for something – not always sure what.

Fellowship is a gift from the God who created us to live together in peace.
