This "Flowering Your Faith" mural is a 3 piece art project which was the result of a summer Youth Servant Event hosted by our congregation. The individual murals were hung at Faith Lutheran Church, Topeka Lutheran School, and the Kansas District office of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. A relief of this mural hangs in our church lobby.
"Flowering Your Faith" depicts our God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth through the clouds and the rainbow. The clouds are a thunderhead representing the power our Father in heaven has over His earth (Matthew 6:9). The rainbow reminds us of God's promise to Noah (Genesis 9:12-17), which leads to God sending His Son, Jesus.
Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord is depicted through the ram, which is part of the story of Abraham and Isaac (Genesis 22) which points us forward to Jesus' sacrifice for all humanity on the cross. The root reminds us that God is rooted in the world through Jesus, who is the branch of Jesse (Isaiah 11:1-3).
God, the Holy Spirit guides God's people - the Church - today. The Spirit is symbolized through the grapes and
leaves. The grapes remind us of the fruit of the Spirit (spoken of in Galatians 5:22) and the leaves symbolize the growth of the Church which was birthed on Pentecost (Acts 2:41-46)
